"You often say, 'I would give only to the deserving'. The trees in your orchard say not so, nor the flocks in your pasture. They give that they may live, for to withhold is to perish." -- Khalil Gibran --
First weekend in January I planted the first plants in my veggie patch / potager. It was brinjals, tomatoes, runner beans, squashes, sunflowers, artischoke and marigolds.
In March we had our first harvest.
Glorious coloured brinjals and squashes.
We savoured the veggies and the flowers.
A heart shaped tomato -- how cool is that ! ! ! !
Late March we expanded the veggie patch and planted cauliflower, brussel sprouts, green peppers, broccoli, peas, camomile and more marigolds.
A week after the planting we had colder weather and rain. The snails came out of hiding and feasted on the Brussels sprouts, marigolds, broccoli, peas and green pepers.
We placed on numerous places between the cauliflower plants cleaned yoghurt buckets filled with a little beer to attract the snails away from the plants. Let's see if that works.
The beauty of flower and brinjal.
I could not resist to try a water colour --
Now, back to watering the veggie patch.
